Skyline Expression wins Grand Prize in Battle of the Bands

Local teen band Skyline Expression won the 2007 Battle of the Bands competition held in Champaign, Illinois on June 9. Their Grand Prize: 3 hours of recording time at Pogo Studio, plus an appearance on WPGU 107.1. Band members Shane Howarter, guitar, Maxx McGaphey, keyboard, Adam Cowden, drums, Quinn McGhee, bass, all attend local schools.
The alternative rock group The Blue Addictions placed second. All bands had two or more members, all aged 11 to 18, attending middle or high school. The library’s Teen Advisory Board chose the following bands to compete:

  • Chance (classic rock)
  • The Dirty Mustashes (punk rock)
  • The Blue Addictions (alternative rock)
  • Konspiracy (hard core metal/alternative)
  • Maximo (rock)
  • Skyline Expression (blues/rock)
